C.O.R.E. Robotics helped to host this year’s VEX Competition at St. Thomas More High School on November 6th and 7th. Each team competed in 5 qualifying matches and then 22 teams competed in the elimination rounds. The tournament was setup similar to a FIRST Robotics competition in order to prepare students for participating on a FIRST team in high school. Each team must create a robot (of maximum 18”*18”*18”) to play this year’s game: Round Up.
The object of Round Up is to attain a higher score than your opposing alliance by scoring tubes upon goalposts, owning goalposts and by the robot hanging low or high from a ladder. A bonus is awarded to the alliance that has the most total points at the end of the autonomous period.
VEX Round Up Scoring Summary
- Autonomous Period Bonus 10 points
- Each Tube Scored 2 point
- Each Robot High Hanging 20 points
- Each Goalpost Owned 5 points
- Each Robot Low Hanging 10 points
