Safety Training

Before the season starts, hold training sessions for the entire team on using power tools, such as a miter saw, band saw, grinders and sanders, hand tools, and general safety.

At the next few meetings, administer safety tests to make sure the students have absorbed the information and can properly use the tools. Require them to pass the test with 100% accuracy before being allowed to use power tools. If a student misses some questions, the safety captain should re-educate the student in that area, and allow a retake at the next meeting.

Training documents are also important to keep track of who has been trained in what areas, who needs to take the test again, and who needs to be retrained.
